In de marktstad Wolfsegg am Hausruck werd tot 1967 steenkool gewonnen. Op 24 mei 1995 kwam er een einde aan de 210-jarige geschiedenis van de mijnbouw in Hausruck. De laatste kolenmijn bevond zich in Schmitzberg, in de gemeente Ampflwang. De traditie van de steenkoolwinning wordt in de marktstad Wolfsegg levend gehouden door de mijnwerkersvereniging. De Barbara showtunnel bij het sportveld, gebouwd in 1996, herinnert aan deze belangrijke tijd.
